About Us

Our Purpose

We created this website to allow people to learn about important activist that helped minority classes obtain rights and better life condtions overall. Not only that, but we also want to provide information on Cesar Chavez and how and why he impacted a a big part of social society.

Cesar Chavez olayed a big role in society but also in my family. I want people to know how helpful he has been to many farm workers. My grandpa came here to the U.S to work and try to get more money for my dad's family that was staying back in Mexico. He worked in a farm in Texas and then moved to California to pick cotton. I remeber him telling me he would get paid 3 cents per pound of cotton he gave in. He didn't make a lot of money so he wanted to go back to Mexico. He satyed and he remebers that eveyone was talking about Cesar Chavez. Thanks to him, my grandpa was able to getbpaid more as a farm worker. My grandpa returned to Mexico a coupoes of years after.

About Myself

My name is Jocelyn Ramirez and i'm 14 years old. I am a mexican-AMerican hispana that lives with immigrant parents. Growing up I have always know the struggle. I can remember that my dad constantly was at work, I rarely saw him. He came to the United States 25 years ago,(1995). He's always worked in restuarants as a cook and got paid low-wage. He would amke 6 dollars an hour and had to pay rent, bills, and support 3 kids and a wife. It was ahrd when I was younger because we we're always moving from house to house beacuse we couldn't afford some of the places. At home we only speak spanish, since both of my parents don't know enlglish. When I was younger, I had to leanr on my own how to speak, read and write english. It was hard because I didn't speak it well and I still have trouble. I know what's it's like to have really hard-wroking parents and what it's like to live with a parent that got paid minimun-wage.
